United States F/A-18 Hornet Combat Aircraft
The Hornet first entered service in 1983 and was praised for its great versatility. It is capable of carrying air supremacy missions as well as ground attack operations.
Modern avionics which included a cockpit display for the pilot combined with aerodynamic features and a powerful twin supersonic engine made it a popular jet in the export market. The Royal Australian Airforce currently still operates F/A-18 Hornets (2020) 42 years after the first flight was carried out in the USA.
