These figures represent French soldiers from the early stages of World War II. The French Army, though large and partially modernized with motorized and mechanized units, relied heavily on outdated tactics and fortifications like the Maginot Line.
While some units had transitioned from traditional cavalry to mechanized roles (DIM & Dragoon regiment) and others were equipped for mobile warfare, they were ultimately unprepared for the speed and coordination of the German Blitzkrieg starting in 1940.
