Entering service with the Soviet Army in the late 60s early 70s the T-64A was the first Soviet tank to feature an advanced ceramic composite armour profile along with NBC and automatic fire supression protection.
It also is armed with the powerful 125 mm D-81T smoothbore gun which was capable of penetrating any allied tank that was fielded at the time.
Over 13000 T-64 variant tanks were produced with Ukraine being the main beneficiary of the left over stockpile which they have upgraded to various T-64BV and Bulut models.
