The Type 63 of the Peoples Liberation Army Navy Marine Corps (PLANMC) is an indigenous design that was largely based of the Soviet PT-76 amphibious assault vehicle.
The Chinese military high command always wanted to maintain an water crossing capable assault fleet hence why they developed the Type 63 and the later upgraded T-63A. These were usually stationed around Taiwan strait .
The Type 63 featured a 85mm rifled gun and all around armour protection of around 12mm average.
