The M26 Pershing was a radical design away from the M4 Sherman line of tanks that the US Army operated during the early stages of WW2. It featured improved armour characteristics with 102mm of frontal armour and a more powerful 90mm M3 main armament.
The M26 Pershing saw early use during the battle of Remagen which lead to the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge near the Rhine by the 9th armoured division.
One of the most iconic moments ever captured on film during WW2 involved a M26 Pershing which was involved in a direct clash with a German Panther tank on the city streets of Cologne.
