A symbol of Soviet abundance and surprising adaptability, the T-34 medium tank had a profound effect on the future of tank development. The formidable German Panther tank was the German medium tank answer to the T-34.
The rapid mobility of the tank combined with adequate sloped armour and a powerful 76mm gun earned the praise of both Western allies and even German tank commanders who described its superiority over earlier German tank models.
Towards the end of WW2 over 80000 T-34 tank variants had been produced in order to overcome the almost 45000 combat losses the T-34 suffered during WW2.
