The M35A2, powered by its multifuel engine and 6×6 drivetrain, provided the mobility to move the 7-ton M198 across rough terrain while also carrying crew members, ammunition, and support gear. Once in position, the M198 delivered 155mm indirect fire out to roughly 22–30 km (depending on ammunition type), giving U.S. and allied forces mobile, hard-hitting field artillery support from the late Cold War through Iraq and Afghanistan.
