Starting in 1940 the Germans began an operations in North Africa in order to assist their Italian allies against British Commonwealth (+USA after 1941) forces in the regions primarily around Libya and Egypt.
Back and forth battle would be fought with the German and British military leaders Erwin Rommel and Bernard Montgomery becoming legends for their fighting tenacity.
