The Russian Army currently operates dozens of BMPT "Terminator" Tank Support Fighting Vehicles. The Grozny experience of the 90s and early 2000s highlighted the inadequate armour and firepower vehicles like the BMP 1 and 2 provided.
From 2002 the terminator was born. Mounted on the chasis of a T-72 are x4 9M120 Ataka missile launchers, x2 30 mm 2A42 autocannons, x2 AG-17D grenade launchers, and x1 coaxial 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun. This firepower and added protection would give Russian ground units flexibility to engage both armour and infantry targets
