The U-48 U-boat/ Submarine commissioned in 1939. It proved to be the most successful for the German Navy of WW2 having sunk 51 allied ships in the 2 years it operated. In total it carried out 12th patrols with its final deployement happening in June of 1941.
The Type VIIB U-48 had a range of 16000km and could reach depths of 250m. For armament it consisted of 14, 21inch torpedos an 8.8 cm SK C/35 naval gun on the deck and a 2 cm (0.79 in) C/30 anti-aircraft gun.
