The Panzer grenadier units of the German Wehrmacht widely used the Sd.Kfz. 251 half track to transport troops and equipment. Additionally due to its wide scale production and adaptability it also took on additional roles.
Starting in late 1944 the German army mounted the 2 cm KwK 38 flak gun on a pivot in order to give mechanised German units better capabilities against both armour and air units.
