The Panzer II was adapted to serve as an artillery observation vehicle, referred to as Beobachtungswagen. A notable enhancement was the addition of a loop antenna on the rear deck, boosting their reconnaissance capabilities.
These Pz.Beob.Wg units greatly improved target acquisition and artillery fire observation duties, especially within SPG groups.
