The Mi-24 "Hind" or flying tank was first introduced into the Soviet arsenals in 1972. 

It intended to full fill two roles required by the Soviet Military. One was for the helicopter to act as a gunship and secondly to be able to ferry troops around the battlefield it is capable of doing both.

The Mi-24 features double plated armour around the fuselage, titanium rotar blades and ballistic resistant windscreens this allows it deflect upto 12.7mm incoming rounds or heavy machine gun fire.

Assault features of the Mi-24 include a rapid fire heavy machine gun mounted on the turret chin, Gsh-L 23mm mounted missile launchers and AT-6 spiral Anti-tank guided missiles.
