The 2 cm Flak 38 was Germany's standard light anti-aircraft gun during World War II, firing 20 mm shells at a practical rate of about 180–220 rounds per minute.
As the war progressed, thousands of German women served as Luftwaffe auxiliaries (Flakhelferinnen), operating searchlights, rangefinders, and anti-aircraft batteries—including Flak guns—to help defend German cities from Allied bombing raids.
