The Free French Forces "Forces Françaises Libres" (FFL), led by General Charles de Gaulle, were formed in 1940 to resist German occupation after France's fall. Fighting alongside the Allies in Africa, Italy, and France, they played a key role in liberation efforts. Their symbol, the Cross of Lorraine, represented defiance against the Vichy regime and Axis powers.
