The Nashorn Panzerjager entered service in 1943 and was a consequence of German encounters against newer Soviet tanks like the T-34 and KV-1 during operation Barbarossa. It featured the devastating 8.8 cm Pak 43 AT gun on a lightly armoured but highly mobile Pz3/4 chasis.
