First introduced in 1949 the MiG 15 was a transonic fighter jet capable of travelling at over 1000km/hr. It also successfully integrated a swept wing design that made it lethal against USAF and United Nations Command (UNC) fighter jets like the F-80, Republic F-84 and F9F jet.
It is claimed that the first jet v jet action during the Korean war was won by the MiG 15 against a USAF F-80C.
