US V-22 Osprey VTOL Aircraft

Take Off and Land Vertically with the V-22 Osprey Aircraft. This long range multi-purpose helicopter can carry out a variety of missions.

Development of VTOL military aircraft kicked into gear in 1980 with the failure of Operation Eagle Claw during the Iranian hostage crisis. The US military needed a long range VTOL aircraft in 1989 the V-22 Osprey was put through its first flight.

During April 2007 the US Marine Corps deployed the V-22s on their first combat missions in Iraqs Anbar province near Al Assad airbase.

These days the V-22 Osprey is used by US Spec Ops and most recently was used in Yemen 2017.
