A satellite city on the NW border of the Moscow administrative boundary Khimki is the nearest the Germans ever got to Moscow some 10km away from the city centre.
A light German reconnaissance unit clashed with Soviet forces around this city and were ultimately expelled from it as the German unit had completely outpaced its friendly logistics and supply wagon.
This would ultimately be known as the Defence of Moscow
