WW2 Raupenschlepper Ost/03 RSO General Transporter
To combat the harsh winter conditions of the Soviet Union combined with primitive roads that generally consisted of mud tracks the German Wehrmacht requested the need for fully tracked armoured transport vehicles.
Introduced in 1942 RSO vehicles were immediately put to use in the in the eastern front. There they were used to transport artillery ammunition and other general needs of an armed force. The reliability and capability of the RSO to carry out a wide array of functions gave this vehicle an excellent service record among the German army groups on the eastern front.
By the end of the war over 23000 RSO variants had been built for the German and Romanian armed forces.
