WW2 Defence of Berlin

CHF 51.00

The Defence for Berlin began on 16th April 1945 after an earlier offensive by the Soviet armies saw the fall of the Oder river in early 1945.This forced the German high command to initiate Operation Clausewitz on March 9 which set about in propping up the cities defence capabilities.

The German army extensively used pillar boxes and flak 88s to slow down the Soviet onslaught where ever possible. Kubelwagens would zip across debris ruined streets transporting officers and wounded soldiers. The intense house to house urban fighting would rage on for 16 days and result in the death of over 150000 soldiers from both factions
