WW2 Soviet T-34 Tank (Model 1942)

CHF 58.00

First fielded by the Soviets during Operation Barbarossa. The T-34 was well balanced tank that featured superior armour and mobility to any of the German tanks currently in service. Many German Anti-tank weapons of the time including the pak 36 and other 50mm AT guns struggled to penetrate the tank and thus forced the German army to use large anti-aircraft guns and howitzers as direct fire support weapons.

Over 900 T-34s were operational during the defence of 1941 and would inflict heavy casualties against AT crews and older Panzer II and Panzer III.

The effectiveness of the tank was realised by the Soviet high command and a year later the tank received multiple upgrades that improved its sloped armour, fuel storage, ammunition storage and simplified many of its components. These would be known as Model 1942 T-34 tanks and they derived from the T-34M advancement project.
