First introduced in 1934 the PT-17 Stearman also known as the Model 75 was a simple and cost effective WW2 pilot trainer plane in which over 10000 were built.
In addition to training US Airmen the Model 75 was responsible for training Canadian pilots of the Royal Canadian Air force.
In the post war years 1000s of these plane were sold to the civilian market were many were famously used as simple crop dusters
