Raised in 2014 the Territorial Defence Forces (TDF) were created to counter act Russia's annexation of Crimea. They consisted mostly of reserve soldiers and received basic training an equipment
As of 2022 the TDF are much better armed, equipped and trained due to better Ukrainian/Western cooperation in infantry management and tactics. Additionally there are now over two dozen battalions of TDF that often work hand in hand with Ukrainian armed forces.
